After 17 years of acrimony resulting in costly tariffs and retaliatory tariffs on $11.5B of goods traded between the US and the EU, negotiators have come to an agreement to end the litigation related to these two aircraft industry giants. In a signal of good faith, the EU also lifted its tariffs on steel and aluminum for the next six months, hoping to encourage the US to do the same. According to President Biden, a stronger partnership between America and Europe is much needed in a world that is facing great challenges related to climate change and the so-called “Chinese Threat”.
